Heaven & Hell

What happens when you go to Heaven?
Do you get the car you've always wanted? All the cupcakes you can eat?

What good are these things when you're dead?

What happens when you go to Hell?

They can't physically torture you, surely. You're dead! You're free of your body - your physical self.
If they were to torture you mentally, making you feel guilty about all the bad things you've done - well, they can't, really. It's entirely up to you whether you're going to feel guilty or not.

Who would do the torturing, anyway? Do they know all about you and everything you've done? There are at least seven billion people in the world. You think someone's following your every step? Someone knows every single thing you've done wrong? And who's to say what's wrong? You might think you were doing something good while the Heaven-Hell sorter guy thinks that what you did was bad.

There are no solid definitions of sins and virtues. All the rules we've been made to follow, all the moral values we've been taught - WE made those. We humans.

Also, putting people in Heaven and Hell labels them as either 'good' or 'bad'. That's unreasonable as people change. Just because someone did bad things in the past doesn't mean they can't/won't do good things in the future.

In addition, people who would be placed in Heaven have sins of their own. Everyone has made mistakes and we all have to live with what we've done. It be foolish to think that the people in Heaven are free from any sin whatsoever. Therefore, really, how can anyone be put into either Heaven or Hell??

Furthermore, we have all these religions; their purpose to get us into Heaven.

But what about the animals?

We have raised ourselves like gods above them when the truth is, WE are animals. It's foolish - stupid, even - to think that we are not. There are over one million species of animals out there.

We are living beings just as they are. The only thing that separates 'us' and 'them' is that we are more 'advanced' because we are able to stand upright, walk, talk and post blogs. Well, congratulations, you can say your name - but that does NOT make your life more valuable. Sure, we can do lots of stuff. But what does it matter? The only ones who benefit from our endeavours are ourselves.

I've asked several people whether they think animals go to Heaven & Hell. They all said no. I asked them where they went. They didn't know.

Why is it that only WE go, but not the animals? The truth is, whatever happens to them after death also happens to us. I don't believe there is anything too divine after death. How can there be when the lives of animals are so carelessly discarded? Animals who hadn't the chance to do anything that would determine a place in either Heaven or Hell.

Why must we create the illusion of Heaven and Hell for ourselves? Isn't it possible that in death we simply cease to exist? Does there always have to be 'something more'?? Also, why must we wait until death to experience Heaven? We could make Heaven a day-to-day reality.

Moments before death, we look back on the life we've lived. Perhaps that is when we experience this Heaven and Hell. Heaven being a life well lived, and Hell knowing you haven't done what you wanted to do combined with the knowledge that it is simply too late to change anything. You only get one life. Use it wisely.

The only point I would disagree with is that humans are more advanced than other animal animals.

We may be more technologically advanced, but in biological terms we are no more advanced than other animals.

Great blog update though!

You're right. There are animals out there who are more advanced than us. We can't hold our breath underwater for several hours, we can't fly, we don't have supersonic hearing and look at our defense mechanisms! All we can do is punch and kick!!

I should go back and re-phrase that.

Thanks for pointing it out.

Hey! Nice blog!

I say, life is too short to worry about what happens to us when we die.
Humans are animals, evolution does not necessarily mean advancement. It's all about survival and human beings have managed to do very well in that respect (albeit at the expense of other creatures).

Take care.

K. James said that 'we' are animals. OK... he can try to be one all he wants, because 'we' are not animals; we are HUMANS.

What do you do in heaven and hell? My dad says in heaven, everything is made of gold and you praise the lord all the time, and yet, you are happy.
In hell, everything bad happens while you burn in the flames.
You have to think like this; the physical body is left behind in earth, but your spiritual body, which looks and acts like your physical one, goes to heaven or hell. Hence you can be tortured in hell, and feel it.

You talked about people being able to change, even if they die (change in heaven/hell). Once you end up in either, there's no going back. In earth, you have to prove yourself worthy to get into heaven. In earth, you can be bad or good, but to reach heaven you have to end up 'good'.

Overall, it's the afterlife we're talking about... LIVE YOUR LIFE
