War

I don't admire soldiers. They are people who kill. Even though they do it to protect their country and their people, they're still killing other countries' people. They're still killing people.

And what's the sixth commandment?

'Thou shall not kill.'

What does this say of all the Christian soldiers out there? That all Christian soldiers have disobeyed their God (where's the loyalty?). And still, they wear the cross around their neck and, still, they pray. Tell me how this works.

I don't admire soldiers because they don't have to fight. They don't have to. No one can make you do anything. They can manipulate, blackmail and threaten you - but they can't make you do anything. Everything you do is entirely up to you. The soldiers want to fight. They chose to. And as for those who were 'forced' or 'had no choice', what kind of soldiers are these? The ones who can be pushed around and told what to do? They're the weak ones. The ones who couldn't say 'no'.

Soldiers aren't doing anyone a favor. So, who told them otherwise? They all think they're doing some noble cause, when the truth is, they're leading us further away from this dream of 'world peace'.

Violence doesn't solve anything.

As far as I know, wars begin when two (or more) leaders disagree. They then send their soldiers to fight one another and whoever wins will have their way.

How does this help? How. Does. This. Help? It only proves who is stronger, who has the numbers, who has the weapons - but NOT who is right. As they say, the 'majority rules'. But no one ever said the majority was right.

The leaders may have their disagreements, but they should leave the people out of it.

Am I crazy for thinking that maybe problems could be solved through discussion?

Well, if everyone refused to fight, and there were no soldiers, the leaders wouldn't have a choice.

In an ideal world this is a good idea, however it only takes one person to disagree to mess the whole system up.

As much as I would like the world to be an ideal place (being the idealist that I am) I am not naive enough to think it is.

Practically might is right. I often hear people saying "why does America think they have the right to do this?" or "this is illegal". Power gives them the 'right' because those with power make the rules.

The only way to change the rules is by having more power than the ones currently in charge which means you become what you are trying to overcome and it's all an endless circle.

This line or reasoning is giving me a headache. :-(

Soldiers are people who deserve respect. Soldiers are people who fought to protect their country and their way of life.

Remember that on April 25th.
Remember that on November 11th.

These are the people who fought to protect your way of life today. They may have killed others, but they saved us. It is for that, we should show gratitude.

LOL... aiyaaa!

A soldier follows orders without question; that is the role of a soldier. Hence they can be said that they have no mind of their own; When the higher ranks tell you to fight, you fight without question. Of course they could disobey and watch Pokemon, but that's not being a soldier cuz soldiers don't do that.

Christian soldiers fight against evil, presumably, and that is perfectly natural for Christians. The Christian guy who defeated Goliath KILLED Goliath, but where did he end up? Was shot. No; he became king, Hallaluyah.

Of course it's not, but it can be.

Yes, they did fight to protect their country and way of life. I'm just saying that I don't admire the way they go about doing so. There are alternatives to bloodshed. Also, a lot of their bombs and nuclear weapons damage the environment which will cause harm to the ones they are trying to protect, as well as others who aren't even involved, in the long run.

That's the same as praising someone for stealing bread for you when you are hungry. Sure, you're not hungry anymore - but the point is that they stole. They could've got a job or something, they didn't have to steal. There's always another way. A better way.
*Also, if you do thank and admire them for stealing bread for you, they'll continue to do so for now they think they're doing the right thing. We should refuse to eat stolen bread and turn away anyone who steals it. We cannot judge people based on intentions, only actions.

Evil being fellow human beings? I don't understand. Everything on this Earth is supposedly God's creation. Why would God want His sons to kill their brothers?

I forgot to mention a few things.

A - You.
B - Person who stole bread for you.

Even though A & B are happy, what about the baker? If B bought the bread, all 3 of you would be happy. It would be a win-win situation instead of a win-lose situation.
*Also, if you accept the bread from B causing him to go back and steal more, you're turning him into a criminal.

You know, I don't know if I want to live if it means hundreds of others will die + all the soldiers who caused these deaths will be condemned and have heavy burdens to carry. So, soldiers, let me live without feeling guilty.
