'Dear Mr. President'

In singer Pink's song 'Dear Mr. President', she sings:

How do you (president) sleep while the rest of us cry?

Don't get me wrong, it's a song with good intentions, but I don't like what it stands for. What Pink's saying is that the president has all the power and that no one can be happy until he changes things.

Don't wait for him to take action and don't blame him if he doesn't. You can do something about it. You have power - much more than you think. If he's not changing things, change them yourself. There's no reason why you can't.

It's your life, it's your world. Don't let one person control everything! The world belongs to everyone, so let everyone be satisfied. You can make the world a better place for everyone.

If there's something you want to see happen, Take action!

Singer Björk has a song called 'It's Not Up To You' - but, truth be told, it's ALL up to you.

Nicely said. It's too easy for people to blame others for everything.

Ehhh...but the thing is: a) people are too lazy/too selfish to actually take action. b) Mr Prez has money. c) He/she is given the responsibility of Foreign Policy, etc, and he is accountable for the welfare of the state.

However, I can agree with you, 'bout not blaming the Prez for everything that goes wrong...'cause he/she is after all, human.

In response to:
a) Well, that's what I'm trying to say. If you're not doing anything about it, don't complain. You should be out there changing things so you don't have anything to complain about. Being 'lazy/selfish' is not a valid dismissal for not taking action.

b) Take action to get yourself some. Bill Gates is richer than the president. You can be, too.

c) Yes, he has been given responsibility - but by who? By the people he rules. And if they are dissatisfied with the way he's doing things, they should be able to take it away and give it to someone else - or even take things into their own hands.
